Mottram Wood

Not been on here for a while! But hoping to kickstart it again now!

Went for a meal here at the Mottram Wood in Hattersley just for a simple day out, we realised the food was cheap and after looking at the menu, couldn't wait to get our hands on it!
We arrived to a near empty restaurant which was surprising for a Sunday just before a bank holiday!
The restaurant looks great and you just find an empty table and then place your orders at the bar! Very much traditional pub style ordering system.

Because the menu looked that good I honestly couldn't decide what to eat! so for my starter I had a combination of everything, and for my main I had a combination of everything! The sound of everything on paper sounded great... But once the meals started to come out, that's when it really went down hill.

The chicken was clearly just seconds before cooking defrosted, and everything else was just a pure grease haven. It was not appealing at all, and for someone who usually never has a problem clearing his plate, ended up leaving 3/4's of it full, that is never a good sign!

Rating: All out of 5 stars
Service: 2 Simplistic rude teenagers talking down to me is never a good start
Food: 1 Probably the worst meal i've ever gone out to eat
Atmosphere: 2 Without the good company I had with me the night would of been tediously boring
Location: 2 Next a roundabout and a fast food chain
Overall: 1.5 Not a good place, luckily nowhere near expensive!

Fallow Deer Pub Chapel On Le Frith

Got to say, been here a few times now and for a pub the food is exceptionally good! Just over £10 for one of the nicest steaks you can buy at value for money. We went today for Mother's Day and had the best steak yet, but that's not all we all had varying meals again and each one looked just as good as the other! Varying from crab cakes to traditional Rotisserie chicken.

The location of this pub is also something of excellence, nicely hidden away and excluded from near enough everything giving a nice isolated atmosphere to the place, but don't get me wrong the pace is usually full of punters all waiting to get a taste of the top quality food!

Value for money is key to this place! And if anything, you pay less than you should. I've been to numerous restaurants now where I've thought to myself, yea that was nice but jeez the price is high. Here that's the opposite, I think to myself 'that was delicious, but what makes it even better is the fact I don't need a pay day loan to pay for it at the end!'

Rating: All out of 5 stars
Service: 4.5 All friendly staff ready to help and don't keep you waiting for anything
Food: 5 Definitely top class food for an unbelievable price
Atmosphere: 4 All nice people and not too loud to compete for attention
Location: 5 I love the drive to this place over country roads
Overall: 5! Definitely my favourite place to eat!

But I walked to the till and was met by the ever smiling Jeny who gave great service and put me in a great mood to eat my food!

The food itself was amazing! Lovely moist chicken and a beautifully balanced wrap! Got to say, dont think i've got any negatives for last nights meal! Well Done Nandos!

San Rocco Ashton

Firstly, this restaurant is very well presented and I give it full marks for that! But a shame the food and moreover the prices of the food didn't match up to it, guess its true what they say "looks can be deceiving".

The service was also typically Italian, with arrogant waiters who preferred to serve the women politely and almost completely ignore the men. We went as a group of five and ordered varying meals such as steak (I know not an Italian choice) pasta and Lasagna. On first impressions the food looked impressive and I couldn't wait to get stuck in, but after the first few bites my high expectations were soon lost. Don't get me wrong the food was nice and i'm not trying to say I don't recommend it, but for the price you pay, you certainly don't get your moneys worth!

The atmosphere in the place was the best quality of this restaurant, with gentle music playing in the background and no one competing to be heard. But sadly this wouldn't be enough to take me back to this restaurant, because I don't pay ridiculous amounts of money just to hear a gentle song!

Rating: All out of 5 stars
Service: 2
Food: 3.5
Atmosphere: 4
Locations: 3
Overall: 3

Negatives: My first negative of the restaurant happened within 10 minutes of walking in, when I was greeted by a young looking waiter who abruptly barged past me to grab my girlfriends drink, which in fairness was kind of him to carry her drink to the table, but that's where my negative comes in, she wasn't the only female? so why only her drink!! Another negative would be the prices, the food quality certainly didn't match up to the steep prices at all. The food was nice yes... but not THAT nice! We are in a recession remember!

Overall I don't think I will be returning to this restaurant, but if you like steaks and don't mind paying the steep price for just an AVERAGE steak they go for it.

First Review

Puccinis in Ashton Under-Lyne

Went to this restaurant as it was highly recommended, must say what a good choice it was! We went as a group of 8, all with varying food tastes, and we all left more than satisfied with what we had eaten. We had heard that even Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs had ventured into the restaurant it was that good. As soon as we walked into the restaurant we were greeted by the ever smiling manager who made sure everything we needed was catered for, but don't think this as special treatment! He did this to every single table! And as for the food... Wow! The quality was unbelievable varying from top call risotto to mouth melting steaks.

Rating: All out of 5 stars
Service: 4.5
Food: 4.5
Atmosphere: 4
Location: 3
Overall: 4

Negatives: the couple of negatives I would have for this restaurant would be the overwhelming care of the manager. It's all well and good to take care of your people but there's a limit! They need to eat in peace! Also the music in the place made conversations louder and it sometimes sounded like a school canteen, people competing to hear each other.

Overall a definite recommendation for any Italian food lover!
